Although they mostly faded into obscurity for many years, they have started to pop up again in a slightly modernized form, with more and more games from other genres adopting mechanics and ideas from RLs some achieving great success. The Rogue-like genre of games is one of my favorites, and (imo) one of the most interesting to talk about.ĭespite being a mostly niche group of games, Roguelikes are among the oldest of PC games, with origins in ancient text-based rpg games inspired heavily by D&D. WARNING: I EXPLAIN THE HISTORY AND DEFINITION OF THE ROGUELIKE/ROGUELITE GENRE. Just games that are enough different from the rest of the list, but who have some things in common.
These games are more like hack n' slash or RPG. In this category, games are very similar to each others. Don't hesitate if you have suggestions or recommendations. Some of these games are not yet realeased.
